About Taunton School
Taunton School was founded in 1847 by Congregationalists as a non-denominational boys' school in the West Country market town of Taunton, Somerset. The school became co-educational in 1971 and today educates around 687 pupils with a substantial boarding population. The Headmaster is James Johnson. The school is a member of the HMC and the Boarding Schools Association and is inspected by the ISI. The school operates a substantial bursary programme intended to provide educational access for Somerset and West Country families regardless of family means.
