About Hulme Grammar School
Hulme Grammar School Oldham was founded in 1611 by the endowment of William Hulme, a Lancashire merchant whose 1691 will established the Hulme Trust — the substantial Stuart-era charitable foundation that today operates the Hulme Hall Grammar School in Oldham and previously operated the William Hulme's Grammar School in Manchester. The school today educates around 675 pupils ages 4-18 on a campus in Oldham, Greater Manchester, and is co-educational. The Headmaster is Tony Oulton. The school is a member of the HMC and is inspected by the ISI. The school operates a substantial bursary programme via the Oldham Hulme Grammar Schools Foundation, intended to preserve the 1691 Hulme Trust charitable principle of educational access for Greater Manchester families regardless of family means.
