About Durham High School for Girls

As an all-through school, educating pupils from Nursery to Sixth Form on one site, Durham High fosters a strong sense of continuity and family. Visitors often comment on the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines our community.

I warmly invite you to visit and discover for yourself what makes Durham High School such a special place. I look forward to welcoming you.

Today, we continue that legacy by embracing a more inclusive future. Boys were previously welcomed until the age of 7¾, before the school became fully single-sex in 1993. From September 2025, we are proud to return to our co-educational roots—welcoming boys back and enabling girls and boys to learn side by side.
