About Bede's Senior School
Bede's Senior School was founded in 1895 as a small co-educational independent school in the seaside resort of Eastbourne on the East Sussex coast. The school relocated its senior provision in the twentieth century to a coastal campus at Upper Dicker, East Sussex, while retaining the original Eastbourne site as Bede's Prep School. The school is co-educational ages 3-18 across the two sites with around 802 pupils at the Senior School. The Head is Peter Goodyer. The school is a member of the HMC and the Boarding Schools Association.
Bede's is particularly distinguished by its tennis academy — the school's high-performance tennis programme has produced multiple national and international junior tennis players, and the former British No. 1 Tim Henman has been associated with the academy as a patron. The school operates a substantial bursary programme intended to provide educational access for East Sussex and South Coast families regardless of family means.
