About Westminster Under School
Westminster Under School was founded in 1943 as the dedicated preparatory school of the much older Westminster School. The school operates today from a separate campus at Vincent Square in central London, adjacent to the Westminster School's Dean's Yard precincts in the Westminster Abbey complex. The school is boys-only ages 7-13 with around 772 pupils. The Master is Krista Cowman.
The school is a member of the IAPS and is governed jointly with Westminster School itself by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey. Around 60% of each year's leavers progress directly to Westminster School for the senior years (13-18) on the Common Entrance examination, with the remaining leavers proceeding to Eton, Harrow, St Paul's and other major London independent senior schools. The school operates a substantial bursary programme via the Westminster School Foundation, intended to provide educational access for academically able boys regardless of family means.
