Stafford Grammar School was founded in 1982 as a coeducational, independent school at Burton Manor, located on the outskirts of Stafford, the county town of Staffordshire. The school occupies a beautiful building designed by the Victorian architect, Augustus Pugin. Many of the original design features are still intact. The School was opened by its first patron, the Right Honourable, the Earl of Shrewsbury. The founding Headmaster, Dr J R Garrood, began with just 17 pupils in September 1982. Since then, the school has grown to around 400 pupils including a thriving Sixth Form and Prep School.
