About Prior Park College
Prior Park College was founded in 1830 in Prior Park — a Grade I listed Palladian villa overlooking the city of Bath, designed by John Wood the Elder between 1734 and 1750 for Ralph Allen (the Bath stone magnate and friend of Pope and Fielding) and one of the most architecturally significant Palladian country houses in England. The villa's famous Palladian bridge (built 1755) is the principal landscape feature. The Bath setting and the architectural significance of the campus make this among the most striking school sites in England.
The school operates today as a Roman Catholic independent and educates around 563 pupils ages 11-18 with a substantial boarding population. The Head is Ben Horan. The school is a member of the HMC, the Boarding Schools Association and the CISC. The school operates a substantial bursary programme via the Prior Park Foundation.
