About Lingfield College
Lingfield College was founded in 1940 by the Marist Brothers — the Roman Catholic teaching order founded in France in 1817 by Saint Marcellin Champagnat — as a small Catholic boys' boarding and day school in the Surrey village of Lingfield, just south of the M25 and on the Sussex border. The school operated as a Marist Roman Catholic foundation for over six decades before becoming fully co-educational and non-denominational in 1998, when the Marist Brothers withdrew from direct management. The school today educates around 951 pupils ages 2-18 across an integrated Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior School. The Headmaster is Richard Bool.
The school is a member of the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and is inspected by the ISI. The 40-acre campus sits in the Surrey village of Lingfield, immediately adjacent to Lingfield Park Racecourse — one of England's principal flat and all-weather thoroughbred racing venues. The Lingfield Park proximity has produced a particular school strength in equestrian sport and a strong feeder relationship to the Royal Veterinary College.
The school's academic profile is mid-tier independent — solid A-Level results, broad-access tuition fees, and a strong family/local-community ethos. The school operates a bursary programme intended to provide local Surrey families access regardless of family means.
