About Dulwich Prep & Senior
Dulwich Prep School London — "DPL" — was founded in 1885 in central Dulwich Village, south-east London, originally as a preparatory school feeding into the neighbouring Dulwich College. The school today operates as a co-educational prep school ages 3-13 with extended provision into the early senior years, with around 812 pupils. The Head is Caroline Dawson. The school is a member of the IAPS and the ISA and is inspected by the ISI.
The school's principal distinctive value proposition is its direct feeder relationship with the three Dulwich Foundation senior schools — Dulwich College (boys, ages 7-18), Alleyn's School (co-educational, ages 4-18) and James Allen's Girls' School ("JAGS", girls ages 4-18). All four schools descend from Edward Alleyn's 1619 College of God's Gift foundation in Dulwich, and Dulwich Prep provides a key preparatory-school feeder route into the senior schools. Substantial numbers of DPL pupils progress at 13+ to Dulwich College, Alleyn's or other top London senior schools (Westminster, St Paul's, City of London).
The school's academic profile is strong London prep — solid Common Entrance results and substantial scholarship awards at the major London senior schools. The school operates a substantial bursary programme intended to provide educational access for South London families regardless of family means.
