About AKS Lytham
AKS Lytham is the contemporary name of the merged Arnold-King-Edward-Queen-Mary schools at Lytham St Annes on the Lancashire coast — a federation that combines several earlier independent schools at this site. The senior provision was originally established as King Edward VII School (founded 1908) and Queen Mary School (founded 1930), with the merger completed under the AKS Lytham name. The school sits today on a coastal campus at Lytham St Annes, on the Fylde Coast, immediately adjacent to Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club — one of the rotation venues for The Open Championship golf tournament.
The school is co-educational ages 3-18 with around 792 pupils. The Head is Helen Cresswell. The school is a member of the HMC and is inspected by the ISI. The school's proximity to Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club has produced a particularly strong golf programme. The school operates a substantial bursary programme intended to provide educational access for Fylde Coast and Lancashire families regardless of family means.
